Agency Marketing Intern

Digital Operative (DO) is an award-winning digital agency headquartered in San Diego with additional offices in Denver, CO and New York, NY. We are searching for an Agency Marketing Intern to join our team for the summer of 2018 in our San Diego office. The ideal candidate will live in San Diego and be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate marketing program (or related field). He/she will be motivated to learn more about digital marketing and agency life, will be creative and have the ability to “think outside the box,” and will possess a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

The Agency Marketing Intern will be mentored primarily by the Agency Marketing Manager and will assist with various agency marketing activities, including planning conferences and events, producing content for social media platforms, helping to execute our inbound marketing strategy, and working on the agency website (blog and non-blog). The intern will also meet with and receive guidance from other digital marketing team members with expertise in a variety of capacities, including content marketing, paid media, search engine optimization (SEO), data and analytics, and email marketing. In addition, and depending on the intern’s interest, we will be happy to tailor this experience so that he/she spends more time learning about specific topics or areas of our business.

  • Assist the Agency Marketing Manager with the following:
  • Conference and event planning
  • Designing and ordering conference giveaways
  • Writing and editing blog posts on different marketing and ecommerce topics (may involve interviewing internal subject matter experts to gather content)
  • Updating website content on WordPress (both blog and non-blog)
  • Preparing slide decks and presentations
  • Gathering content for marketing pieces
  • Brainstorming and then helping to organize photo shoots with our Design team for images for our website, blog, social media, or other marketing channels

The Project Manager will be involved throughout all operational points of projects from client communication, to phase handoff, to launch. Digital Operative is looking for a Project Manager, who brings at least 3 years agency or web project management experience, demonstrating a successful track record of driving web and eCommerce projects.

Role Summary

The Project Manager has an eye for detail, a capacity to juggle multiple projects, schedules, etc, and the passion for setting the right expectations. Day-to-day activities include: driving projects forward, serving as the lead voice on projects, communicating with multiple clients, gathering client answers/assets/requirements/etc, unblocking obstacles, aiding in budgeting for RFP/RFQs/SOW’s/CO’s, testing team’s work, reviewing/altering multiple project schedules, reporting on utilized hours/project budget/timeline, etc. The Project Manager will also be responsible for working with cross-functional team members, interfacing with clients, and following Digital Operative’s established processes.

Job Requirements:

  • 3-6 years experience as an interactive Web Producer or Project Manager within a deadline-driven agency or tech startup environment, with multiple eCommerce projects driven from initiations through close-out
  • 1+ years experience within ecommerce related work
  • Very comfortable with user experience, eCommerce, and web development terminology and processes, with experience managing responsive web projects, back-end integrations, as well as mobile, social, SEO/SEM/Retargeting campaigns, etc
  • Established track record of being accountable for the execution, management and quality of multiple complex eCommerce projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring client satisfaction, meeting milestones, and delivering within the approved budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; experience creating detailed project requirements documentation through discussions and meetings with internal project team members across all departments and client stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of various kinds of project management methodologies & frameworks (waterfall, Agile)
